What are you doing to create a more sustainable future?
I am a house designer and builder who completed a certified Passivhaus in 2025 in Ascot, near Ballarat, Victoria. Built to the rigorous international standards of the Passivhaus Institute, the home delivers exceptional comfort, energy efficiency and indoor air quality.

What impact has your initiative had so far?
From 7 January to 29 January 2026, the house was completely unoccupied, allowing us to observe its true performance without human influence. During this period, Ascot experienced relatively mild summer days and nights, as well as near-record heat.
On 27 January, the external temperature ranged from 13.1°C to 43.5°C — a swing of 30.4°C. Internally, however, temperatures remained between 25.8°C and 28.3°C, fluctuating by just 2.5°C without active cooling.
