The Surf Shadows is a Ballarat-based band that has played around Western Victoria for the past decade or so. We love the old surf instrumentals and blend these with some Shadows, hence the name!  We do some vocals to complement the instrumentals, but you won’t hear any Beach Boys type surf!

Powerhouse vocals and emotive guitar lines, Freya and Tom McGowan are a daughter/dad duo from Ballarat who have performed at some of Victoria’s most loved folk festivals, including Port Fairy FF, Maldon FF, Newstead Live & Cresfest.

As a 15 year old songwriter living in a regional area, Freya’s lyrics provide listeners with a glimpse into themes that are central to her experiences as an emerging artist. Combined with Tom’s guitar work, their sound is a rich tapestry that reflects the broad range of artists that Freya has grown up listening to, especially Joni Mitchell, Kate Bush and Martha Tilston.  

"Unique", "Soulful", and "From the heart" are words that have been used to describe her music, confirming that Lizzi May is a songwriter completely in control of what she creates.  Inspired by the likes of Missy Higgins, Amy Winehouse and Jeff Buckley, Lizzi crafts soulful orginal songs and unique covers, that leave an audience captivated.

Steven Skilbeck is an acoustic guitarist and singer from Ballarat who has been playing around the region for years. His set mixes folk, soul and classic favourites that you know and love. Hope that works.
